Education is highly valued in Finland and in Rovaniemi. The high standard of education forms one of the corner-stones of the Finnish national strategy which is based on a desire to develop the country as an information society. Education is one of the basic aims also in town strategy in Rovaniemi.

Rovaniemi is a centre of high-quality expertise and education and is home to 11,000 students. This means that approximately 18% of the city’s population are studying in the University of Lapland, the Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences or the Lapland Vocational College.
