The lean-to is situated in Santavaara, by the road on the east side of the Ounasjoki River. It is about 4km from the junction of Ounaspaviljonki in the direction of Kittilä. Take a right on Santavaarantie road, and drive for about 3km, until the road ends. The lean-to is located about 400m from the sign “Kuninkaanlaavu”. The lean-to is situated in a cliffy landscape, with a breathtaking view from its spot. There are two lean-tos and a firewood storage. There are no toilets.

The lean-to is approximately 3-4km from the city, on the left hand side of the road leading to the Arctic Circle. The lean-to is close to the parking lot of Ounaspaviljonki. The lean-to is by the water, surrounded by forests. There is a nice beach nearby and a playing area with a number of activities for kids, as well as tennis courts in the area. Next to the lean-to, there is a large firewood storage and toilets.

You can get to the lean-to by car or bicycle. The surrounding areas offer the possibility for many activities: there are excellent opportunities for sledding, down-hill skiing and ski-jumping; as well as ski-lifts, summer sledding tracks, etc. There are maintenance buildings, equipped with toilets, near the lean-to.

This lean-to is near the city centre, by the Kemijoki River. You can get to the lean-to on a number of ways: car, bicycle, with prams and, in the summer, by boat. The lean-to is by the waterside. There are no toilets.

The lean-to is located by the Kemijoki River, near the road to Kajaani. Following the signs for "Lapin pursiseura" is a sure way to find the lean-to. During winter, the lean-to can be easily accessed by ice; there is also an ice golf course on the river ice near the lean-to. There are no toilets.

The lean-to is situated in Alakorkalo, at the so-called “uiton ranta” (timber driving waterfront). The lean-to is about 5km from the city by Alakorkalontie road to the direction of Kemi. There are two lean-tos, a toilet and a firewood storage; as well as a big lawn, a beach and a place for washing rugs nearby.

There are many trails going to the Observation Tower, from all directions. Many of the trails are marked, which makes it easy to find the lean-to. There is, for instance, a nature trail departing from the Siskonpolku trail; and a one-kilometre trail from the Sports Institute with signs to the observation tower. The area surrounding the lean-to is rocky. There is a toilet. The Ounasvaara area offers excellent opportunities for picking berries and mushrooms.

You can get to the lean-to by foor from Korkalovaara and Vennivaara. You will find the starting point at the end of the Katvetie road, where you can pick up the firewood to take with you. From Kivelöntie road, there are signs marking the way to the starting point at the end of Katvetie road.

You can access the lean-to by boat from Rovaniemi. There is a toilet. No opportunities for swimming. The spot is situated a nice boating trip away from the city.

You can get to the lean-to from the end of the Kurivaarantie road, and, during winter, 8km from Ounasrinne by snowmobile route or by skis. There is a pond where you can catch pikes nearby and the surrounding area is diverse. There are firewoods and a toilet available at the lean-to.

The lean-to is in Autti, by the Kemijärvi-Rovaniemi road, 75km from Rovaniemi city. You can reach the lean-to by car. A fire site, boat pier and toilets are to be found at the site. The lean-to is surrounded by a bay and fields.
