Conference has been canceled.

I’m very sorry to announce that the ’Respecting Otherness’ –conference has been canceled.

We didn’t get enough registrations to guarantee the economic basis for the conference. We’ve been informed that there will be more registrations later on – maybe. Anyhow it is not possible to wait any more and take the risk.

We have to cancel the conference hall early enough without the obligation to pay. And we wanted to make this announcement before the participants, who have registered, start to make cheaper flight reservations with worse cancellation policy. And of course we must give the keynote speakers enough time to reorganize their calendars. Please, cancel your hotel registrations, if you have done them.

We also thought if we could organize the conference with “lower profile”, but that would be even more insecure way to entice more participants.

So, I must thank all the people who have worked on the conference and all of you who wanted to visit Rovaniemi. Perhaps we get another opportunity to present our city and the ways we work dialogically here. And also learn what you have done in your work and communities.

Have a nice springtime all!

With best wishes,
Heikki Ervast
Chairman of the organizing committee
